One of the fields in which astrology excels is that of interpersonal relationships. It is so proficient that a specialization has developed with time, receiving the name of SINASTRY, a word that suggests the comparison of planets of both charts involved. In fact, this is what is done. The Sinastry techniques start with an in depth study and understanding of EACH person (chart) separately – How each of the partners of a love, familiar or business relationship is intimately, psychologically, what he brings to relationship, what he expects to get from it . |
| For love relationships, for instance, one have to evaluate
what are his needs, his love expectations, his sexual drives or blocks,
his expectative of home and family and so on. Then the astrologer assesses
how those needs, drives and blocks fit in the other partner psychological
pattern of relationships.
The comparison goes on now with the technique of superposition,
when one of the charts (M) is superimposed to the other (F) and the important
issue of astrological houses comes the fore in the comparison. The order
is then reversed, with the superposition of chart F over chart M. |

| Planetary interactions are then evaluated one by one, by means of the technique of the Sinastry Grid, where all planets, asteroids and points of chart F are matched with the similars of chart M. this not only assesses the degree of compatibility but, more importantly, suggests what are the potential and actual points of conflict and how the couple should proceed to lessen this effects. At the same time, some very positive conjunct qualities become evident, many of them being potentials that the couple may have not realized until now |

| A very powerful technique, the Composite chart concludes the assessment, by evaluating the new being, the HOLOS, the sum of both partners producing an entity that is more important and capable then any of then individually - because, in human relationships, one plus one is much more than two. The composite chart gives important clues about internal adjustments of the couple, but is even more useful to assess the couple’s interaction with other people and organizations, with the external world at large. |
